Introducing 'the old gentleman’s wardrobe’, a studio in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, stockist of Chalk Paint™ decorative paint by Annie Sloan®, and promoting Scottish professional artwork and design led creations.

Three years ago, Nicola McCallum, local architect, and husband, artist Jim McCallum, opened up a studio in a small unit in Fort William’s industrial area. Last year, they took on the challenge of transforming Parade House into their new business premises and home. Parade House, constructed as a military building in the mid 18th century and used as offices for the last 30 years, over looks The Parade in Fort William, at the east end of its High Street. One year on, renovation of the building is steadily progressing, the studio is currently showcasing the complete range of Annie Sloan® products, but artwork is limited until refurbishment of this area is complete.

‘our ultimate aim, as well as making Chalk Paint™ accessible in this remote part of Scotland, is to maintain an inspiring working studio promoting the work of selected Scottish professional artists and designers. To compliment the Chalk Paint™ we also stock a variety of other products to add the finishing touches to your creations, or just buy one of our completed pieces.’

Nicola is based in the studio Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10-4pm and Saturday 11-3pm painting furniture, working as an Architect and refurbishing the space. She is on hand to assist any potential Annie Sloan® customers with their choice of Chalk Paint™ and provide guidance on its application. If you would like to visit the studio out with these times please text or call 07730 608801.

‘the arts are something we are both passionate about and hope that over time our studio in its new location will evolve into something special.’

Since becoming an Annie Sloan® stockist, nearly 3 years ago now, Nicola has visited Oxford twice to receive training and guidance from Annie Sloan® and her team. Every month, or as demand dictates, workshops are held at ‘the old gentleman’s wardrobe’ to share with others the versatility of Chalk Paint™.

Moving forward, ‘the old gentleman’s wardrobe’ hopes to be in a position by Spring 2018 to start and hold regular art exhibitions to share with the residents of Fort William, and its many visitors, the wealth of artistic talent here in Scotland. if you would like to be kept up to date on developments at the studio find us on Facebook and please don't forget to Like the page.
